In some circumstances, if for a medical reason, the male partner is unable to produce sperms in his semen sample or produce no semen at all naturally; sperms can be obtained from the man’s testicles or ducts by a minor surgical procedure. The procedure is performed either by giving a local anesthetic or occasionally under general anesthesia.
